Step One: Planning

Wedding planning was never meant to be effortless. In fact, if you asked many brides, they'd be disappointed if it was because it would mean that they wouldn't get the opportunity to spend time planning the details that together, form one of the single most important days of their lives.

Here at Copper Canyon, we get it and we understand what it means to spend time planning for the big day.

In an effort to help with the planning process, we encourage brides who have interest in booking Copper Canyon Lodge for their 2012 event to email RuthAnn at CopperCanyonLodge@gmail.com. Several summer dates have been booked while select weekends are still available.

Wednesday Profile: Meet RuthAnn

The first time you stay at Copper Canyon Lodge you'll notice a few things. First, that the lodge and property surrounding it create the quintessential American vacation spot, and that the host who greets you has a personality as lovely as her smile.

For those of you who have not stayed at the lodge, we invite you to meet RuthAnn Jensen. Not only is she a Rapid City-native, but she's got a love for the great outdoors, her lodge and celebrations of all kinds.

One of the most obvious things you'll learn about RuthAnn is her love for animals. When the weather is nice, both she and her family make time to ride their horses, walk their dogs and enjoy their 20-acre pasture.

What's one thing you like to do when the weather is nice?

Wedding Guide: Inside the Lodge

October is fast-approaching and the colors of the Black Hills have got us very excited for the upcoming season. Fall is, of course, one of the most beautiful times but we're looking forward to winter equally as much.

Within the next few months, guests will not only be able to visit the lodge to snowmobile and enjoy the great outdoors, but couples who prefer the secluded and unfrequented getaway will find our cozy hill-side location the perfect fit for their wedding and anniversary celebrations.

The couples who have shared fall and winter weddings with us in the past invited small groups of their closest friends and family to celebrate inside the lodge. The groups were intimate and the celebrations were memorable- every time.

If you or someone you know is interested in booking an intimate fall or winter wedding, feel free to email us at CopperCanyonLodge@gmail.com.

A Family Affair

It was one-year ago when Ellie and Aric came to us in preparation for their big day. During the planning stage, they expressed to us that they wanted a summertime wedding set in the great outdoors. We were thrilled to offer them our 5,000-square-foot property for celebrating.

The wedding included 70 of the couple's closest friends and family. The ceremony and reception were held creek-side and evening festivities took place in the Copper Canyon Lodge tent. The theme was a rendition of country-classic with splashes of purple and pink flowers- a perfect complement to the natural Black Hills backdrop.

Congratulations, Ellie and Aric.
